The Best Comedies on Netflix Right Now
It's always nice to watch a good comedy on Netflix right? Some of the best Netflix movies right now are comedies. I would say that comedies and horrors are my favorite genres to watch on Netflix but if I had to choose between the two, I would say that comedies are definitely my favorite. The movies I have listed below are some of the best comedies Netflix has to offer. I tried my best to span a few different genres when I created this movie list. So you will find horror comedies, drama comedies, sci-fi comedies, and just plain old comedies. It's always nice to have an assorted of different comedy categories for whatever mood you might be in. The Netflix movie choices are kind of slim right now and they're always mixing up the Netflix lineup of streaming movies so make sure to watch these titles while you can!
Tommy Boy
I can't believe Tommy Boy is on Netflix now! If you haven't seen it yet, Tommy Boy is one of the best movies to see on Netflix. Tommy Boy is a golden oldie that even new films on Netflix can't compete with. I can't say enough about how the late, great, Chris Farley is the comedic genius of my era. I guess it's true that only the good die young, but I think we should be thankful for the hilarious movies like Tommy Boy that he left us with. So if by some horrible twist of fate, you haven't seen Tommy Boy it is my #1 recommendation on this list of the best comedies on Netflix right now.
DeathGasm
It seems like no one has seen DeathGasm yet. If you are one of those people, you need to check this movie out. It's one of the hidden Netflix movies that nobody seems to know about, but it's truly a hidden gem. DeathGasm is the story of kids who unwittingly summon an evil spirit. DeathGasm is metal to the core, just ask every character in the movie. There is a lot of over the top action and it's a blood-splattered gore fest, enjoy!
People, Places, Things
If you're looking for a romantic comedy and wondering what's available on Netflix, then People, Places, Things is for you. Jemaine Clement always pulls off the most cringe-worthy roles. When I first saw People, Places, Things I didn't think it was going to be a movie for me. But as the movie went on, it was clear that the poor guy just takes a beating from life and keeps on going. All and all, People, Places, Things is just a fun movie to watch on Netflix about trying to balance the complexities of life and moving on to new, and better, relationships.
Take Me
I used to only be able to find Take Me on Amazon Prime, but it is officially now on Netflix. Take Me is the story of a man who runs a kidnap for hire business in the hopes of curing people of their bad habits. Take Me was a really fun movie because you never really know who to trust. The entire movie basically takes place between Pat Healy and Taylor Schilling the whole time, and neither character pulls any punches. Pat Healy is really starting to produce some quality movies and it's safe to say that I will be looking for more of his films on Netflix in the future.
The Mend
The Mend never really gets the love it deserves. It's about estranged brothers meeting up in New York and the trial and tribulations of their relationships. If you like New York type of movies, then this one is for you. You can always tell the type of movies that New York produces. It's either the setting or the people, or a combination of both, but it's a very distinct style in The Mend. I thought there were ample amounts of comedy and drama in this movie and if you are in the mood for both, feel free to try this one out tonight.
Donald Cried
Donald Cried is one of the new movies out on Netflix. I feel like Donald Cried is another one of the hidden Netflix movies. Although it's fairly new to Netflix, it's a great comedy for a genre that's been lacking on Netflix this year. Donald Cried is one of the good new releases on Netflix because it fills the void of dramatic comedies that are severely lacking on Netflix. It's the story of a man who returns to his homeland, after being away for 15 years, to take care of his grandmother's estate. Donald Cried is a very funny, and awkward, movie about the relationships you had way back in high school and what became of those friends that you lost contact with. The acting is great and you really start to feel for Donald in the end. This is probably one of the best comedies on Netflix I've seen this year.
The Mule
The Mule is one of those amazing movies on Netflix that you've never heard of. It's the story of a man smuggling drugs for the first time and having to deal with the horrible consequences. This Austrailian thriller comedy is based on real events. Don't sleep on these Australian movies on Netflix! Some of the best movies on Netflix come out of Australian. There's a lot of familiar faces in The Mule and every character plays their role perfectly. I always try to warn people though, that there is a scene that may just be a little too revolting for you. I feel like I can stand up to most movies, but even I had to cringe towards the end of this movie. Yuck.
John Dies at the End
If you're looking for weird comedies tonight, most recent Netflix movies don't stand a chance against John Dies at the End. If you go into this movie thinking that you've seen it all, think again. John Dies at the End will take you for a mind-bending rollercoaster ride. It doesn't take long to see that this movie quickly moved into the category of a cult classic on Netflix. It's the story of a new drug hitting the streets that transfers you to another dimension. That description is accurate, but there is a lot more to the story than that. Like I mentioned, if you need a weird comedy tonight, this is one of the best comedies on Netflix right now.
Tangerine
Tangerine was on my Netflix watch list for awhile before I ever got around to seeing it. I want to save you some time tonight so you don't have to browse Netflix movies for too long and Tangerine is a great choice. Tangerine is a gritty comedy from the grease lined streets of L.A.. Tangerine got raving reviews from nearly every critic and the performances are very authentic. Tangerine is about a working girl fresh out of county jail and searching for her pimp. It's a fairly simple plot with anything but simple characters. There is a lot of laughs, a lot of attitudes, and a few scenes that were pretty intense. Like The Mule, one scene in Tangerine really made me a little queasy haha. But hey, that's Hollywood for you.

The Netflix lineup of comedies is constantly being switched in and out of Netflix streaming movies so you need to watch these movies soon before they're gone. Even though it's true that everything on Netflix is constantly changing, I'm surprised that most of the comedies listed above have lasted this long.
