The best comedies on Amazon Prime can be a little tough to find. Unlike Netflix, there is currently no clear information on how Amazon Prime chooses the movies they do and when they will be removed from streaming movies. I've removed about 10 comedies from my Amazon Prime movies list this year alone because they were taken off of streaming. Netflix, on the other hand, is much more upfront with information about how they choose and decide to remove movies.
Anyways, that's probably not the most interesting information, but I figured I would share it in case you are having trouble finding the best comedy movies Amazon Prime has to offer. What We Do In The Shadows
What We Do In The Shadows is the story of vampires living together through centuries and coming to terms with the ever-evolving world around them. I would say this is probably one of the best movies on Amazon Prime right now. It has everything you look for in a dark comedy. There's a ton of hilarious scenes, blood, and a genuine type of originality that is usually lacking in Amazon Prime movies today. What We Do In The Shadows is one of those fun comedies on Amazon Prime that doesn't require any thought really. You can just sit back and enjoy the mockumentary that takes place in front of you. There are a lot of familiar actors and you can tell they all work together to come up with these ridiculously funny plots. Some of my favorite scenes are the prissy werewolf group that constantly pop up out of nowhere to bother the vampires. So if you want something to laugh to tonight, this is one of the best Prime movies to watch.
Swiss Army Man
Hank is stranded on an island with no hope in sight. I got to say, Swiss Army Man goes down a dark path really quick in the movie! Don't worry, it'll take about 5 minutes for you to know what I mean, but just as quickly as it went dark, it goes doubly into the weirdest scene I've ever seen. Everyone keeps complaining about how Swiss Army Man is "disgusting" and "demented" but I thought it was great! Daniel Radcliffe really managed to pull off the weirdest role I've ever seen him in. Sure, there's a lot of gruesome dead body stuff, but I bet you haven't seen this type of craziness in any other of the best comedies on Amazon Prime. I mean, who among us can say they haven't befriended a dead body at one time or another?? Ok ok, maybe not, but if there was a dead body as interesting and useful as Daniel Radcliffe's body in Swiss Army Man, I'm sure someone would consider it. The best comedies on Amazon Prime come and go, but Swiss Army Man has managed to last for quite some time and I think you should take advantage of that and watch it tonight!
Dirty Work
Dirty Work is one of the best movies on Amazon Prime right now because it is Norm Macdonald's best work to date. I don't know about you, but I've always been a fan of Norm Macdonald's early stuff and Dirty Work is a perfect culmination of his comedic style. Dirty Work is the story of two friends coming together to raise money for one of their dad's failing health. The only problem is, the company they start is a revenge for hire business. Dirty Work is a pretty damn funny movie but for some reason, it didn't get the love it deserved from critics. When I'm looking for Prime movies to watch, I'm not only looking for something funny, I'm looking for something that's going to be funny and original. Even if a revenge for hire business isn't the most plausible scenario, I haven't heard of that type of plot before! Everything in Dirty Work comes together in a perfect Norm Macdonald type of way and there's even a cameo from Chris Farley, who is a godfather of comedy in my book. Dirty Work is one of the best comedies on Amazon Prime because it brings back the best years, and cast, of the Saturday Night Live comedy group.
The One I Love
It's really hard to explain what The One I Love is all about and what makes it one of the best comedies on Amazon Prime right now. It has a good amount of real-life relationship issues and a whole lot of funny situations but the overall theme of the movie is just so strange, I really can't explain much of it without giving anything away. I would just say that The One I Love is one of the fun Prime movies to watch because it is a little bit of a mind-bender Amazon Prime comedy. The One I Love is the story of a couple having relationship problems and deciding to go on a weekend getaway to try to figure out how to stay together. I know you've probably seen that scenario done a hundred times but I bet you haven't seen it done like this before. While searching for Amazon Prime comedy movies I accidentally stumbled upon this one and I couldn't look away from start to finish. Elisabeth Moss is always good in her roles and I've really come to like Mark Duplass's acting. So yea, like I said, I'm just having to tiptoe around the premise of this movie so as not to give anything away. But if you have trusted me in the past, or you trust me now, know that The One I love is definitely worth watching and it is one of the best comedies on Amazon Prime to watch tonight.
