The Best Series to Watch on Netflix Right Now
These days there are about a million and one Netflix shows. All it takes is to Google “best shows on Netflix” and you’ll get a list of about 50 different shows to watch. But does that help you choose which are the best Netflix shows to watch? Nope. A lot of the top searches on Google will show you a Netflix shows list with just the most searched for shows no matter if they’re actually worth watching or not. At jamilslist I want to bring you a Netflix shows list that is fairly small for the amount of Netflix shows, but they are guaranteed to all be the type of quality Netflix show you’re looking for. Here is a list of some of the best Netflix tv series we have to watch today.
Narcos
When it comes to the best shows on Netflix 2017, Narcos tops the list. To be honest, I had always heard good things about Narcos. Everyone told me how it was one of the best shows on Netflix but I never really thought much of it. It wasn’t until I was out of Netflix movies to watch that I really gave Narcos a chance. Now, it’s one of my favorite Netflix shows. What is so great about Narcos is that it is as entertaining as it is educational. I think most of us have heard of Pablo Escobar and we know that he was a drug dealer. Narcos delves deep into the life of this man and the reign of terror he brought to the Columbian people. Another one of my favorite things about Narcos is that it is shot on location in Columbia. Again, I never knew much about Columbia besides the fact that a lot of cocaine was made there. Narcos shows you the beauty of Columbia in a way few people have seen. That’s not to say that this isn’t one of the extremely brutal Netflix shows because it is. In fact, if you like bloody gang war movies on Netflix then Narcos is the best series for you to watch. I personally think this is the best series to watch on Netflix for anyone who wants to learn about how violent and sadistic the real Columbian drug lords were. I seriously doubt there are any Netflix original shows that can compete with Narcos and I think this Netflix show should be at the top of any Netflix shows list.
The Keepers
The Keepers is the story of the disappearance and murder of Kathy Cesnic, a beloved Baltimore nun. This is another one of the Netflix shows that I had heard about but didn’t really pay much attention to. As soon as I watched the first episode, I was hooked. The Keepers is such an immeasurable story of strength and courage. This documentary manages to unearth the terrifying secrets of the Catholic church in Baltimore at the time. Seriously, this is one of those Netflix shows that deserves more than a few awards. As the series goes on, the story gets much darker and you start to really wonder how such evil can exist in the world. This is the best series to watch for anyone who likes true life crime and mystery. Against all odds, these women are trying to piece together the gruesome details from decades ago, while unraveling the systematic predation of a church that was supposed to take care of them. One thing I will say is that The Keepers is very hard to watch. It is emotionally gripping to the point of extreme empathy. Be prepared to witness some of the most painful interviews you have seen in any of the Netflix shows but please, don’t look away, these women absolutely deserve to be heard. I’ve done a few searches for The Keepers and I rarely find it on anyone’s Netflix shows list, and that is an injustice.
American Crime Story
Ok, we’ve all heard about O.J. Simpson and we all know what happened right? Why would I be recommending one of the Netflix shows that we already know what happens at the end? The reason why this is one of the best shows on Netflix is that it manages to show you a million things about the case that I’m willing to bet you didn’t know. I was shocked to find out some of the details and I remember hearing this whole trial when I was in middle school. This is one of the best Netflix shows to watch because like Narcos, it is very educational. You get to see both the prosecution and defense’s perspective in every step of the case. You get to see when mistakes were made and how he ultimately managed to beat the murder rap. All acting is superb and the director manages to capture every aspect of the story during the time period. American Crime Story can also make you pretty angry at the legal system. Clearly, the evidence was stacked against O.J. Simpson, yet his brilliant defense team preyed on human emotion to overcome the greatest odds. I suppose, if anything, we can all learn from these type of mistakes in the legal system. You might just find yourself bingeing on one of the most well-crafted shows on Netflix. When American Crime Story was first recommended to me to add to my Netflix shows list I really didn’t believe it was going to make the cut. I thought I already knew the story. Don’t make the same mistake I did. This is one of the Netflix shows 2017 that shouldn’t be missed.
Making a Murderer
I feel like most people have seen Making a Murderer by now, but if you haven’t, this is still one of the best series to watch. Making a Murderer is the story of the life of Steven Avery and how he was wrongly convicted of sexual assault and later indicted for murder. I really felt like Making a Murderer was a big blow to the American justice system. It’s hard to believe that things like this can still happen to people, but this Netflix show will take you through all the trials and tribulations of how the justice system cannot always be trusted. This is one of the best shows on Netflix if you’re looking for a compelling crime mystery. Netflix shows based on real-life crime can’t get much better than Making a Murderer. Everything about this Netflix series is hypnotic and you might just find yourself watching each episode back to back to back. Again, I’m sure this Netflix series must be on everyone’s Netflix shows list by now, but if you haven’t had a chance to watch it, trust me, it’s one of the most engaging Netflix documentary shows you are ever likely to see.
I think the best shows on Netflix are actually kind of hard to find. Netflix seems to think that every series they list is going to be groundbreaking and they rarely are. The best series to watch on Netflix are the ones that keep you engaged, entertained, and clicking “Next episode” every time you finish an episode. The Netflix shows above should be on everyone’s Netflix shows list and they are some of the best Netflix original series, but if they aren’t on their list, that’s their loss.
