At jamilslist.com our main goal is to send chills up your spine! Well maybe not the main goal, but we do want you to have a list of the best dark movies on Netflix that are worth watching. All of the movies below are the best dark movies on Netflix and they all will make you think, creep you out, or maybe even send some chills up your spine. My definition of dark movies doesn't exactly have to be scary movies on Netflix. Although I'm sure dark movies on Netflix will most likely fit into the category of scary movies on Netflix, I would have done a list of the scariest movies on Netflix if I really wanted to showcase all of those. Speaking of definitions, an English friend of mine mentioned that there aren't many "black movies" on Netflix. Being a big fan of African American movies myself I thought it interesting that he was searching for this, so I tried to show him the best of the classic black movies on Netflix anyways. When I showed him the list of movies, he was confused by my selection. Apparently, he is used to calling dark movies black movies and vice versa. So in the spirit of my international friends and subscribers on the other side of the world, I decided to use the phrases of both "black movies on Netflix" and "dark movies on Netflix" interchangeably. That way, everyone around the world will know what I mean.

Sun Choke

Sun Choke is the story of a woman forced to endure a bizarre regimen by her caretaker. So Sun Choke is a seriously black film. If you can find the answers in this one, please contact me and let me know. But this isn't one of the best dark movies on Netflix because it's hard to decipher, it's one of the best dark movies on Netflix because it will take you down the rabbit hole of insanity. Who know's what the writers and director were thinking when they came up with this idea for Sun Choke but it's entertaining, to say the least. The best surprise about Sun Choke, and why it deserves to be on this list of black movies on Netflix is the violence. That's not giving anything away, but violence always goes a long way toward keeping me entertained.

When Animals Dream

When Animals Dream is a dark movie about a girl who discovers a grisly family secret. This Danish movie is surprisingly dark in the most subtle of ways. The whole scenery of the movie is dark and dreary and you really get a sense of the small town lives of the characters. Without giving too much away, where most directors have failed with this genre, When Animals Dream manages to bring a rare glimpse of originality. I haven't really found many good black movies coming out of Denmark, but after seeing When Animals Dream I hope there are plenty more to come! When Animals Dream isn't a movie you will soon forget, so give it a try if you're in the mood for something dark.

The Ritual

The Ritual is the story of friends going on a Scandinavian hike to celebrate the memory of a lost friend. So The Ritual can definitely belong to both the categories of dark movies on Netflix and scary movies on Netflix. There was a particular scene in The Ritual that is really offsetting. As I have mentioned in another blog post, I watched about 30 minutes of The Ritual and then I had to get up very early the next day so I went to bed early. I'd be lying if I said I didn't look behind me more than a few times before I officially turned off the lights. Once I continued the movie the next day I was pleasantly surprised at how this dark movie managed to really dig deep into the mind of the characters. It's one of the black movies on Netflix that has really interesting and original flashbacks that play with your mind a little. If you're looking for a dark movie that plays with the horror genre, along with the thriller genre, then look no further than The Ritual.

1922

I really enjoyed 1922. It's no secret that I enjoy a lot of Stephen King movies. But just because this is a Stephen King movie, it doesn't mean that it's only good for sending chills up your spine (although it probably will). Stephen King is a phenomenal writer in every sense of the word. 1922 is one of the best black movies on Netflix in my opinion. There are some very eerie scenes and more than enough creepiness to raise the hair on your neck. Sure, I guess it's one of the scary movies on Netflix too, but it's so much more than that. Each character in the story is so set in their ways and it makes you wonder how Stephen King manages to dive so deep into the character work. This is a dark movie filled with dread and the slow lurid confesses of a haunted man.

Donnie Darko

Looks like we actually found one of the most obvious dark movies on Netflix. The title of Donnie Darko says it all. Donnie Darko is definitely a Netflix throwback. If you're looking for one of the best black movies on Netflix, then look no further. Donnie Darko is the story of a bright and charming teenager with a dark side. There's really a whole lot more to the story than that, but I don't want to give too much away. What makes this a great black film is Donnie's growing friendship with Frank, a monstrous rabbit. Yes, you read that right, a monstrous rabbit. Didn't see that one coming did you? What you get with Donnie Darko is one of Jake Gyllenhaal's best performances and one of the classic black movies we have on Netflix right now. I'm sure it won't last long on Netflix streaming so make sure to watch it while you can!

I am Not a Serial Killer

Looks like we have another dark movie that is already being given away by the title. I am Not a Serial Killer is the story of a boy struggling with his inner demons while trying to solve the mystery of suspicious murders in his small town. This is one of my favorite dark movies on Netflix right now. The main character is a really good actor and he plays the role of a confused teenager exceptionally well. This is a pretty twisted black film that is filled with mystery, gore, and of course, the great Christopher Lloyd. At times it almost feels like I am Not a Serial Killer wants to be a drama because the emotions are running so high with so many characters. At the end of the day, there is definitely some drama, but it is all clouded in some serious darkness. I rarely see dark movies on Netflix that actually have a unique plot and I guarantee you will never guess what is going to happen.

Room

Man, now Room is a seriously dark movie. I'd go ahead and say that Room is the top of the dark movies on Netflix (or the top black movies for my other English friends). For me, Room was a seriously creepy movie because I've always been a big fan of reading stuff about true life crime and serial killers. I have read enough to know that stories like this are very true and probably continue to go on right now as I'm writing this review. The benefit of watching Room is that it has a very positive outlook on a horrible situation. This is one of the dark movies on Netflix that has a really good message about dealing with trauma in life. If you're looking for a movie that has a plot of real-life horror mixed with compassion, and even comedy, then this is one of the top black movies for you to watch on Netflix tonight.

The Boy

The Boy definitely isn't one of those black movies on Netflix that's full of hair-raising terror straight off the bat. It's not an Oscar worthy movie either, but it's great for mindless entertainment. The Boy is the type of dark movie that slowly creeps over you and gives you a strange feeling like something is hiding around the corner ready to jump out at you. The Boy is the story of a woman who takes a job as a caretaker in the English countryside. The Boy is just an odd movie that had me guessing at what was to come. It makes this list of dark movies on Netflix because it was a lot creepier than I expected. There are a million horror movies about dolls out there, but The Boy was just a little different than most. The critics really hated The Boy but if you're in the mood for a black film that will give you a scare or two, without leaving any real mental scares like Room, then it's a good pick for tonight.

Under the Skin

Under the Skin is about a woman roaming around Scotland preying on unsuspecting men. That's actually a very mild description of Under the Skin and not very representational of why this deserves to be on this list of the best black movies on Netflix. I guess it's just because it's a hard movie to review. Under the Skin is one of those "out of this world" movies that may make you think you're going out of your mind as well. This is definitely one of the strangest dark movies I've seen on Netflix in a long time. Not only do I consider this one of the weirdest dark movies on Netflix because of the entire plot, but it should be said that a lot of this movie literally takes place in the dark. Under The Skin is a kind of cerebral display of a movie. You find yourself in the mind of the main character a whole lot and I still don't know what I was witnessing. The best advise I can give you is to just try Under the Skin out based on faith. If you're looking for the top black movies in the category of weird, you can't go wrong with this one.

So I hope I didn't confuse anyone using the terms "dark movies on Netflix" and "black movies on Netflix". Like I mentioned at the beginning, I was a little confused myself until my international friend cleared it up for me. Anyways, these movies are the best black movies on Netflix that you probably haven't seen yet and you should really give them a try. If you're in need of some black movies that actually have some comedy in them to cheer you up, this blog of The 10 Best Dark Comedy Movies on Netflix Right Now is a great place to start!

The Best of Netflix Sci Fi 2018

Looking for the best science fiction movies streaming on Netflix? I love writing about good sci fi movies because they bring out the inner child in everyone. I love a good true crime or true story movie as much as the next person, but sci fi is where we get to just sit back, relax, and see what kind of crazy ideas can make it from someone writers brain all the way to the screen. What also makes sci fi movies so great is that they often combine all genres in one. You can have sci fi action movies, sci fi drama movies, even sci fi comedies! They all have a familiar tone and that is that they all strive to be original works (whether they actually succeed or not is up for debate) that test the limits of the mind. So join me down this path of the top science fiction movies on Netflix right now and I promise you'll get to just relax for the night and let your imagination run wild.

Cloud Atlas

Cloud Atlas is the story of different lives being lived throughout the past, present, and future. Cloud Atlas is one of the most original sci fi movies I have seen in a long time. One thing I will say is that I never like to have big name movies on my Netflix movie list. I always feel like everyone has seen the huge mainstream movies and the whole point of jamilslist is to share the hidden movies that most people haven't seen. I decided to add Cloud Atlas to this list of science fiction films because it got a lot of hate from the critics. I think Rotten Tomatoes even rated it around 60%. I have no idea who comes up with these ratings, but Cloud Atlas is definitely not a 60% movie. It has great acting, an interesting and unique plot, with plenty of action to keep you entertained. It's rare that you find good action sci fi movies so you really have to enjoy the few that we have on Netflix. One of the best things about Cloud Atlas is that it makes every actor actually act! Now don't get me wrong, because I love Robert Deniro and Al Pacino, but they rarely play a role other than themselves. I mean, I actually consider them to be at the top of the list for my favorite actors and I can still say that they rarely play different roles. Every actor in Cloud Atlas is forced to take on a new role in the film, no matter how good or vile the character may be. That was a breath of fresh air for me to see the different depth of acting each person was capable of. Nevermind that happening in science fiction movies, that hardly ever happens in any movies.

Under The Skin

A strange woman roams around Scotland luring men. Now Under The Skin is definitely one of the strangest movies I've seen lately. It was added to Netflix alongside a few of the latest sci fi movies and it will really throw you for a loop. Scarlett Johansen puts on a pretty polarizing performance. Even after I've seen Under The Skin it's hard to explain why it's one of the top science fiction movies on Netflix right now. I guess above all it's an absorbing film. Without giving too much away, the whole movie has a surreal feel to it and you kind of find your mind wandering away with the character. She will be confused, you will be confused, and the movie will continue on until you both land on a solid plot surface, only to drift away to another realm of consciousness. I'm deep, I know. But really, you will find that this fits in perfectly with good sci fi movies because it is completely original, increasingly mysterious, and just downright strange. By the end of this movie, I doubt you will really grasp everything the director was trying to show you (I didn't at least) but you will come away with the notion that this was one of the sci fi movies that was definitely worth your time tonight.

Ex Machina

So in the real world, I work as a computer programmer. I spend my working hours sifting through code and creating programs. Maybe that's why I was attracted to Ex Machina in the first place. Ex Machina is the story of how a mid-level computer programmer wins a contest to spend a week with the brilliant and mysterious CEO of his company. Ex Machina is probably the one movie on this sci fi movies list that might just send chills up your spine. I don't mean that in a scary way either. I think it will play with your mind until you get that gut-sinking feeling that something is wrong and that's how you will get the chills. Artificial intelligence in science fiction movies is nothing new. Plenty of people have done it in movies and some of the best science fiction books are about artificial intelligence. What Ex Machina brings to the table is a new level of artificial intelligence in science fiction movies. In a way, you become part of the process and you become involved as well, as the characters go deeper and deeper into the computer simulated minds of the machines. In my opinion, I think Ex Machina is one of the top science fiction movies I've ever seen. Ex Machina is smart, sharp, and downright creepy. This should be at the top of your sci fi movies list.

Turbo Kid

Turbo Kid is the story of a kid living in a post-apocalyptic wasteland while being forced to battle a ruthless gang. You know how I knew I was going to like Turbo Kid? The blood. It doesn't take long into this science fiction movie for the blood to flow and does it ever. Turbo Kid is at the top of the list of science fiction films if you were a kid of the 90's and want to reminisce on the era. It's like a silly version of Mad Max really. You have both the bloodthirsty gang and the lone wolf characters. It has the raw apocalyptic vibe and much funnier action that you usually see in action sci fi movies. The special effects are b-rate but that's what makes Turbo Kid so great. There's no need to cringe this time at the bloody mayhem, just laugh along with it. Like I said, if you like campy humor, hysterical gore, and one-liners, then this is one of the top science fiction movies on Netflix for you.

What Happened to Monday

Overpopulation is plaguing the planet and a family of sisters is forced to live in secret. What's perhaps the eeriest thing about What Happened to Monday is that it's almost a real premise for the future similar to communist China setting a children policy limiting the number of children people are able to have. I don't actually think it's a real thing that's going to happen in the future, but it does kind of make you think about how far we can really last into the future when this world becomes too populated to live in. What steps will governments take to prevent it I wonder? What Happened to Monday is a horrible answer to that question and it's definitely one of those good sci fi movies that go well beyond the realm of reality. It's one of the fun action sci fi movies that will keep your eyes peeled to the screen. I was actually presently surprised at the amount of violence in What Happened to Monday. Violence can go a long way for me and that's one of the main reasons What Happened to Monday made this list of science fiction films. There are plenty of cat and mouse elements to keep you guessing and I'd be surprised if you didn't find the plot to be pretty mysterious. Again, you know how much I value originality by now and the premise for this movie alone makes it one of the best done latest sci fi movies on Netflix.

Like I mentioned at the start, the latest sci fi movies haven't been all that great but the five choices above are all great additions to Netflix. The sad part is science fiction movies rarely have this level of originality and you still won't usually see these movies in peoples lists of good sci fi movies. I suppose that's why I started jamilslist. I got tired of all the mindless science fiction movies out there that had no real plot and no real entertainment. Although, I hear Netflix actually has some upcoming sci fi movies in the work so maybe the tides will turn. Until then, check out the titles above and if you are in the mood for some Netflix series, make sure to check out my latest post about the best series Netflix has to offer.

The Best Netflix Series to Watch 2018

Here is a list of the the best Netflix series 2018. 2018 has been a good year for Netflix and these series are guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat.

jamilammar

Welcome to my list of the best Netflix series 2018. Even though I still have a great Netflix movie list, it's time that we started digging into the Netflix series by coming up with the best Netflix series list out there. Gone are the days of finding a million good tv shows to watch. Now we must rely on Netflix. To be honest, I'm excited to have a Netflix series list now. It's no big surprise that Netflix TV shows have been taking over the spotlight lately. I have to admit that I was a little bit resentful at first. I liked my Netflix movies because they were short and sweet and I didn't have to spend hours and hours of my life watching Netflix series for days on end. Even though I still do favor my movies over my series, I have to admit that Netflix has produced some pretty good shows as of late. What I've noticed is that I gravitate towards the reality series as opposed to the completely made up stories that are sensationalized to the point of ridiculous drama in every single scene. So on that note, here are some of the best Netflix series that are documentaries based on real events and facts. Some of the Netflix series on this list are Netflix new releases, and some have been around for a while. A lot of things are pretty intense, so don't say that I didn't warn you!

The Staircase

I think more Netflix tv shows should be about true crime like The Staircase. It was one of the better Netflix new releases this year. I'm very surprised that I never heard about the story of The Staircase while I was growing up. I suppose it didn't have the sensationalized feel it did when the actual events were taking place but I was just getting out of high school when the real events took place and I still had never heard of it. The Staircase is the story of Michael Peterson and the mystery surrounding his wife's death. Never since Making A Murderer have you been so conflicted on what could possibly have happened in this story. I don't want to give anything away but I think you will be excited, frustrated, and a little confused even til the end of the series. There are so many twists and turns that can sway your opinion about Michael Peterson one way or another. I won't say what side I was on, but if you've been following my reviews for a while now, I'm guessing you will be on the same side. This is a great Netflix series to watch and a great addition to my Netflix series list.

Making A Murderer

Most people have already heard of Making A Murderer, but in case you haven't, it's the story of Steven Avery serving 25 years in prison for a wrongful conviction and the trouble he finds himself in after his release. This is undoubtedly one of the best TV series Netflix has to offer. I think everyone will feel for Steven Avery, at least at the beginning of his life, whether or not you cast him out later. Although people can always mask their true self, it's hard to picture Steven Avery as the cold-blooded character the Wisconsin police department try to depict him as. Once you watch this series for the first time, you will most likely need to think it over and discuss and debate it with friends. This is a perfect choice for a Netflix series to watch tonight. I believe that whatever side of the debate you find yourself on, you will be able to agree that there was clearly injustice suffered by Steven Avery. The next thing I predict is that you will be stuck to the edge of your seat with Making A Murderer and I doubt you will leave there until the very end. This is probably at the top of true crime Netflix tv shows and it's no small feat finding good new tv shows on Netflix.

I Am A Killer

Another great addition to my Netflix series list is I Am A Killer.
I Am A Killer is one of the newer Netflix series to watch of 2018. I Am A Killer is a Netflix tv series about Death Row inmates and what mistakes they made that lead them there. Every inmate gets to explain their story in their own words. My favorite part about I Am A Killer is that you get to try to play detective. Some of the guy's stories are extremely brutal and you start to wonder who is telling the truth about their crimes and who is just trying to talk their way out of jail. When the series first starts, you get the feeling that this is just going to be story after story about murderers and how they just decided to live outside the confines of society. But the deeper you go, the more you start to realize that these people started out just like everyone else and had very difficult lives as children and teenagers. I don't want to make up any excuses for the horrible crimes they committed, but I think you will start to feel a tiny bit of empathy for some of the inmates. If you're looking for something new on Netflix, check this out.

The Keepers

The Keepers is the most powerful, and the hardest to watch, of the Netflix tv shows. I can feel my blood boiling at the thought of it. The Keepers is a Netflix series that surrounds the mysterious death of sister Cathy, a nun and Catholic school teacher in Baltimore. It will make your skin crawl to hear about how evil men can be. The immeasurable courage from the girls who spoke out against the church is inspiring and it's impossible to watch The Keepers without getting angry yourself. Don't be afraid to watch this series even if you feel like it's going to be unbearable to watch. Imagine the poor girls having to live through it! With all the recent Catholic church scandals, I wouldn't blame you for wanting to pass this up, but I strongly believe if we don't learn from the past we are doomed to repeat it. The people that stick up for others in the face of evil will always be the type of people we should aspire to and sister Cathy deserves to have her story told. This is one of the most important, and saddest, Netflix series to watch.

Narcos

Rounding out this list of the best Netflix series to watch is Narcos. So I've written about how much I loved Narcos before, but in case you missed it, this is probably my favorite series ever on Netflix. It should be at the top of everyone's Netflix series list. I loved everything about it from the Spanish, to the South America landscapes and jungles, down to the bloody and vicious murders and tortures. I would say Pablo Escobar played by Wagner Moura is the most captivating character I have seen in a long time. He's absolutely perfect for the role and everyone around him steps up to the plate as well. My favorite part about Narcos is that with nearly every scene, you get a synopsis of the true life story and even some video to back up the accuracy. I think most people think they already know the story of Pablo Escobar and the Medellin cartel, but this series will really shine a light on a lot of things you probably missed. After you're done with season 1, jump right into season 2. Season 2 is the story of the Cali Cartel. You get a glimpse of the formation of the Cali Cartel in season 1, but season 2 shows their rise, their style of drugging running, murder, and new tricks they bring to the game. If I had to choose, I would say I liked season 1 the best, but season 2 of Narcos is a very close second. Whatever season you choose, Netflix tv shows don't get much better than this.

As I mentioned at the start, we know that there are Netflix good tv shows to watch now. It's just not always easy to find new tv shows on Netflix. These are definitely the best series on Netflix I have seen so far. The best Netflix series to watch are the ones that you keep wanting to watch from one episode to the next. These are all heavy hitters and they deserve to be streamed and binged as long as you want. I rarely see anything on Netflix worth bingeing outside of these series so take advantage of them while you can. I promise you that every one of these series will make your Netflix series list.

Getting tired of the series on Netflix and need some great movies to watch? Heck, it's been a good year for all movies on Jamilslist. Thrillers are nice because you can usually tie in a lot of genres into it. Are you a fan of horror movies on Netflix? Well, I bet you'll find a lot of the good horrors on Netflix can be considered thrillers as well. How about action movies? Good Netflix action movies usually give me a thrill, so I'd be happy to include them in this list when I find them. The point I'm trying to make is, some of the movies listed below could span a few different genres, but all of them definitely deserve to be in the list of the best thriller movies on Netflix 2018. Besides, to find the best movies on Netflix right now, you have to be willing to bend the genre rules a little bit!

Calibre

Calibre is the story of two childhood friends going out into the Highlands of Scotland on a hunting trip.
It's one of the more bleak, or black movies on Netflix really. Once things start to spin out of control, it just snowballs from there. I guess I'm just trying to say that it's just one of those dark movies on Netflix that you don't see coming. Something about Calibre just grips you and doesn't let go. I kind of started to put myself in the position of the characters and thought of what I would do in the situation and you might find yourself doing the same. It's not one of those mind twisting movies, but it'll get you thinking for sure. If anything, I would not say Calibre isn't the easiest watch, but it's definitely a worthy pick for one of the best thriller movies on Netflix right now.

The Boy

An American woman takes a job as the nanny in the remote English countryside. Some people liked The Boy, some people hated it. I personally thought it did its job. It's a popular movie listed under horror movies on Netflix. Unfortunately, it's in the category of ghost movies on Netflix. The thing is, the "doll" ghost movies have been so overdone it's hard to know what movies to trust these days. Sure, maybe the very first doll horror movie was ok, but the last hundred of them have been pretty horrible. They all lacked originality and they all had the cheesiest scares possible. The Boy is one of those weird movies that you haven't seen in a while. I mean in my opinion, we need more weird movies these days. I'd go as far as saying the best weird movies on Netflix are some of the best movies on Netflix. The Boy got destroyed by critics at the box office but I didn't agree with what they had to say really. It's just one of those odd movies. Does it come together perfectly and is it the best thriller/horror on Netflix? No. Is it worth your time to watch hungover on the couch on a Sunday? Absolutely! And unlike all the other doll horror movies out there, this isn't a copycat movie.

The Descent

After an emotional trauma, a woman joins her friends to spend some time exploring caves in North Carolina. If you have no idea what The Descent is you're in for a pretty twisted movie. Besides the fact that boundless gore awaits, you might just find The Descent to be one of those mind twisting movies. The first thing I noticed when watching The Descent is that I would never ever put myself in this position. Ever wondered what it's like to wander into a pitch black cave that no ones ever explored before? Yeah, me either. I mean if you're literally looking for one the best dark movies on Netflix, you found it. And I definitely mean that literally. Half the time it's a black movie and you can't see anything. But I guess that just adds to the allure and terror of it all. Sure, it's one of the horror movies on Netflix, but I would argue that there's enough action to keep the "thrills" going the whole movie.

The Gift

The Gift is the story of a married couple who become acquainted with a man from the husbands past. Man, talk about a creepy movie. Everything seems so normal in The Gift until you start to dig deeper into it. That's when it turns into another one of the mind twisting movies on this list. The Gift is one of those creepy movies that get under the skin. The old high school acquaintance is such an odd character you really don't know what to think. Some of the best weird movies are the ones you can relate to and I think we all have someone from our past that reminds us of this person. He's the guy that didn't quite grow out of high school and is still living in the same old neighborhood. Although there's nothing wrong with that unless you're this guy. Joel Edgerton's character definitely belongs in this twisted movie. As the movie goes on, it almost feels like a horror movie in a way. It's not to say that this is one of the scariest movies on Netflix but it just makes it all that much creepier that it's something that could maybe happen in real life. What I really liked about The Gift is that Jason Bateman isn't playing the usual happy go lucky character. It's good to see him in a different light and it showed his versatility as an actor. Even if it had to be in a twisted movie.

So this is a pretty good list of thriller movies on Netflix 2018 to get you started. I don't want to give anyway away, but one of these has the best movie twists I've seen in a while. Sure, you could just google "best movies on Netflix now" but you'll just get the movies for the masses without any real quality. With this list, we have some thriller movies on Netflix, mixed with horror movie characters, and nearly pitch black movies. But I think each movie on this list is a good primer movie for Halloween movies on Netflix, which will be the next post coming up. I'll have to make sure to bring the real scares with that one!

As always, you can find all the greatness Netflix has to offer here.

The Best Movies On Netflix Right Now 2018 (so far)

Looking for the best new movies on Netflix 2018? So far it's been an interesting year for Netflix. They seem to have come up with a decent amount of new movies and they've even managed to keep some of my favorite titles in the process.

Today we're going to talk about the best movies on Netflix that have been released on the platform so far this year. I think you'll agree that Netflix 2018 was a pretty decent year in movies by the titles below. Anyone familiar with jamilslist knows that I haven't always had the nicest things to say about Netflix's movie selection, but I've decided to have a more positive attitude this year!

I know all of you know by now that it's never easy finding new movies on Netflix these days. I feel lucky that I found these movies on Netflix this year and I'm sure you will be too!

Meru

Meru is one of those movies that makes you say to yourself "Wow, what passion they have. Wow, they must really love what they do. Wow, I would never, ever, do that.". Well, that's what I was thinking when I was watching this terrifying documentary about ice climbing. Meru is the story of three climbing buddies battling against the infamous Mount Meru. Meru has my vote for the best Netflix documentary this year. That doesn't really sum up the whole story of the film, but it's enough to get you interested in seeing how crazy these guys are. I will never understand the excitement of risking your life for a sport but I always find it interesting to watch from my couch. Meru is one of the best movies on Netflix right now because it takes you on an adventure of the human spirit through some of the most dangerous terrains the earth has to offer us. It's actually a pretty sweet deal. These guys get to enjoy their passion, gladly risk their lives, and we get to have our little slice of the sport from underneath our blankets curled up on the couch. While they dangle from tents on a vertical ice slab, starving and nearly freezing to death, we get to stand up and get some more popcorn and another beer. But really, all joking aside, this is one of the most intense films on Netflix I've seen in a long time. Like I said, I'll never understand the need to put your life in danger for a sport but I have a tremendous amount of respect for people that feel the need to.

The Ritual

The Ritual is the story of a group of friends going on a hike to celebrate the tragic loss of a close friend. I have to say The Ritual really threw me for a loop for the first thirty minutes. It was a genuinely terrifying thirty minutes or so. One of my favorite aspects of The Ritual and what makes it so interesting is the very original cinematography. There are a lot of very cool flashbacks (and flashforwards?) in a way that I've never seen before. Also, maybe it's me, but I'm always a sucker for the classic "lost in the woods" scenario. There are a lot of really cool Scandinavian landscapes, and if you like that type of cinematography, you're in for a treat. If you're gonna Google "Netflix what to watch" and you like off the wall horrors, this might be one of the best options to try tonight.

Department Q: The Keeper of Lost Causes

Inspector Karl Morck and his assistant investigate a cold case regarding a missing woman. I was really happy to find Department Q: The Keeper of Lost Causes because there are some really good movies coming out of Scandinavia these days. In fact, the country has produced some of the best movies on Netflix 2018. My favorite part of this movie is that it's original. Originality in a movie is a must these days and it's obviously getting harder and harder with the number of movies getting churned out every year. You can tell that a lot of thought went into creating this film and there's a good amount of interesting police work with action mixed in throughout

Tale of Tales

Ok, this movie is just weird. So weird. I struggle at times to describe what's going on in this movie because it's just so off the wall. It's definitely just another one of those weird "Netflix what to watch" movies. It's not one of the popular Netflix movies right now, but maybe that's because it's not one of the Netflix movies for kids. Apparently, these fairy tales were inspired by a 17th-century Italian writer name Giambattista Basile. Although this movie was made in 2015, it's one of the Netflix 2018 releases. It starts off kind of slow, and really weird, but things definitely pick up as the movie goes on. I'm not a big talker during movies but I found myself slowly talking less and less as the story unfolded. You really just start to go down the rabbit hole in this one and you will never guess where it ends up. Again, this will not be on my kids movies 2018 list.

Wind River

Wind River is the story of a mysterious murder on a remote Indian Reservation with a dark past. I thought Wind River was one of the top new movies because there had been a serious lack of movies at the time. Turns out, even if there had been good movies it still should have been at the top of the list. To be considered one of the top new movies on Netflix in the thriller category you need to have a lot of edge of your seat moments and Wind River does. I mean you can just feel how freezing it would be to live on this small Indian Reservation in Wyoming. This has to be one of the craziest winter movies I've seen in awhile. What's really interesting is that Wind River is based on true events. I looked up the true story of Wind River and it was actually really depressing. It's sad to see crime and drug use tearing apart a community that has such a sordid past in America. As I mentioned already, thriller movies on Netflix don't get much better than this.

There have been a good amount of Netflix 2018 releases. Even though some of the movies weren't actually made in 2018, it's still nice to have some new titles to choose from that you might have missed in the past. Some of the best movies on Netflix right now are the ones that you've never even heard of so make sure to give these a try tonight. I would say that on average there is about one out of ten good crime movies to watch on Netflix. That isn't to say we should give up searching for them though.

Today I have a list of the best crime movies on Netflix that span a few of the subgenres. Some of the Netflix subgenres would be crime documentaries, true crime on Netflix, and just plain old gritty crime thrillers.

I think there is a little bit for everyone on this list and all of these crime movies are worth at least two hours of your life. Enjoy.

The Oath

The Oath is the story of a man willing to do anything to protect his daughter from her dangerous boyfriend. This is a newer movie coming out of Iceland. I actually don't think I've ever seen any other Iceland movies. As far as new foreign movies on Netflix goes, this is one of the best thriller movies to watch on Netflix right now. There are a lot of intense moments and the main character really has to juggle some hard decisions throughout the movie. The Oath is definitely one of the better thriller movies 2016. The boyfriend in the movie is a particularly vile character. It doesn't give anything away for me to say that as you'll see what I mean just a few short minutes into the movie. Some of the things that he says to the father are truly disturbing.

Ain't Them Bodies Saints

Ain't Them Bodies Saints is the story of a man who takes the fall for his girlfriend and hopes to reunite with her and their daughter in the future. A lot of people have been saying that this is one of those bleak or black movies that just lead to depressing thoughts of relationships, but I don't agree. I didn't think it was that depressing and I thought there was a lot to the story. My favorite aspect of Ain't Them Bodies Saints is the gritty and modern western feeling of it all. The majority of reviews claim this movie is slower paced and while some movies on Netflix list themselves as "slow burning" I thought there was more action than most dramas on Netflix. Casey Affleck puts on his usual good performance and it's clear that the director picked a great supporting cast. So if you're in search of one of the gritty drama movies, then Ain't Them Bodies Saints is a great choice tonight.

The Mule

The Mule is the story of a naive man convinced to take part in drug smuggling and having to suffer the consequences of his decision. The Mule is one of those classic crime movies on Netflix about drug smuggling. When you think of drug smuggling, you often think of the word "mule". When you think of the word "mule" in drug smuggling, you might just think about the very negative connotations that word has. Well, I'm here to tell you that the worst thing you can imagine happening to a drug mule is what this movie is about. The Mule is a mix of the categories of crime movies, thriller movies, drama movies, and I even thought there were some pretty funny parts. If I had to pick the category that I think represents The Mule the best, I would say it deserves to be in the crime thriller movies category. I instantly added it to my list of thriller films as soon as the movie ended.

Welcome to Leith

Welcome to Leith is the story of white supremacist Craig Cobb and how he tries to take over a small town in North Dakota. This man is clearly how you "define racist". Being African American myself I've clearly understood how there is racism against black people, and every other race for that matter, but it's always been strange to me how nazi's are racist against anyone that doesn't agree with their views no matter what their ethnic background. Although there are not a lot of black people in the town of Leigh, there is at least one black guy living there and along with the townsfolk, you find yourself rooting for the classic good people against the villain scenario. Craig Cobb is one of the worst time of criminals we have in this world and I suppose this movie even qualifies as true crime on Netflix. It's a terrifyingly real view of a culture that is thankfully dying out as time goes on.

The Way of the Gun

The Way of the Gun has one of the most ridiculous starting scenes to any movie out there. It will only take about five minutes in for you to know what I'm talking about. The Way of the Gun is the story of two criminals who kidnap a surrogate mother from other criminals. This is one of those bloody movies with a lot of action and a lot of violence. What could be better right? I know it's a bit of a throwback movie, but if you have the time there's a lot of good actors and a lot of action. I'd say this is a perfect Sunday type of movie when you don't feel like having to think much, if at all.

Next Time I'll Aim For The Heart

Next Time I'll Aim For The Heart is a pretty creepy movie if you're looking for a good serial killer movie on Netflix to watch tonight. The interesting part of Next Time I'll Aim For The Heart is that it's based on the true story of a serial killer that stalked France in the 1970's. I think there's a ton of people, like me, that are morbidly fascinated with serial killers and
Next Time I'll Aim For The Heart is a great depiction of how some of these sick people really operate. I say that just because I feel like most serial killer movies just focus on the hack and slash of it all and don't really focus on the mental issues. Next Time I'll Aim For The Heart was a good example of the hatred that these type of people seem to have for mankind for no apparent reason sometimes. I thought this was one of the most interesting additions to my serial killers list and a good example of true crime on Netflix.

Dirty Wars

Dirty Wars is a pretty shocking glimpse into investigative journalism. I know that you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet but the atrocities committed by the JOTC go way beyond anything that can be considered ethical. I felt like these should be considered war crimes more than the casualties of war. What is most interesting about this Netflix documentary is that it plays out just like some crime novel or Hollywood conspiracy theory movie. I didn't even know what the term "dirty war" really meant until I saw this movie. I actually passed this movie up multiple times because I thought it was about the Argentina dirty war in which it was a militarized state and I had already see multiple movies about that. Dirty Wars is about a journalist named Jeremy Scahill who traces the rise of the Joint Special Operations Command and the death they leave in their wake. True crime on Netflix is hard to find, but Dirty Wars should be at the top of the list.

Here are some of the best crime movies that Netflix has to offer on streaming movies. These crime movies span a wide variety of categories but all of them are crime films that deal with some evil characters or evil acts committed by criminals of all walks of life.

I have always been a little nostalgic with 90s movies. Obviously, it's because they were all during my childhood and early teens. It's something about the movies you witness at a young age that stays with you your whole life. Maybe it's the innocence you have staring up at the screen watching the magic in front of you. Everyone eventually grows up and realizes that movies aren't real at some point, but that magical age of believing what you see on the screen is something every child should experience.

Needless to say, I had to set the bar pretty high when searching for 90s movies on Netflix. I tried to find the best 90s movies that all people could relate too. It's easy if you're just catering to the 80's babies crowd, but I wanted to make sure that I provided all of the different genres the 90s movies had to offer. So without further adieu, here are all the best 90s movies on Netflix.

Tommy Boy (1995)

Update: Unfortunately Tommy Boy was moved to DVD rental only.

Tommy Boy is the story of Tommy Calahan going on the road to save the family business. What can I say? Tommy Boy is the first movie I ever saw Chris Farley in and at a young age, it didn't take long to realize he was a comedic genius. Some of the best 90s movies are the ones that you remember laughing the entire way through. These days it's actually pretty hard to find a Netflix comedy that makes you laugh the entire time. Trust me, there is no way you can sit through Tommy Boy and not bust up laughing. It just goes to show that only the good die young and that we should all be grateful that Farley left us with this gem. I was very happy when Netflix added this back to streaming because classic movies on Netflix like Tommy Boy only come around once every few years.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

The Nightmare Before Christmas is the story of Jack Skellington. Jack becomes bored with his native land of Halloweentown and becomes obsessed with the neighboring land of Christmastown. Talk about classic movies on Netflix! The Nightmare Before Christmas remains to be one of my favorite holiday movies ever. As far as 90s kids movies go, this has to be near the top of everyone's 90s movies list. It's crazy that one of the best 90s movies on Netflix is a claymation movie. I remember when I first saw claymation films and I thought they were exclusively for kids. It wasn't until The Nightmare Before Christmas hit the scene that I realized that Tim Burton could take any type of genre, kids movie or not, and transform it into a dark and interesting film that all adults can enjoy. I don't think anyone knew how cool grotesque clay characters could be until The Nightmare Before Christmas came out. It's one of those classic movies on Netflix that have withstood the test of time and will continue to do so.

The Sixth Sense (1999)

The Sixth Sense is the story of a boy haunted by a dark spirit. The Sixth Sense was one of the scariest movies ever when I watched it. I remember the first time I saw The Sixth Sense. I was 15 years old and I shamefully admit that it actually gave me nightmares. I guess that makes The Sixth Sense one of the best 90s teen movies for me. This movie is genuinely creepy and if you haven't seen it yet, it's one of those movies that you need to add to your classic movies on Netflix list. Beyond being a scary ghost story, The Sixth Sense is one of my favorite Bruce Willis movies. If you notice, he rarely picked roles that weren't tough guy roles after Die Hard. In The Sixth Sense Willis shows a much more compassionate side to his acting. It also helps that this is one of the best of M. Night Shyamalan's movies. Some of the best 90s movies of my childhood scared me into being afraid of the dark for a night or two and The Sixth Sense was definitely one of them.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Nevermind this being one of the best 90s movies ever made, it's one of the best movies ever made period. I've always loved The Shawshank Redemption and I'm not alone. With one of the highest critic ratings ever, it's easy to see why this is one of the top 90s movies on Netflix. Every once in awhile a movie comes along that transcends generations and The Shawshank Redemption is one such movie. With commanding performances by Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, you get to witness a testament of the human spirit. The best 90s movies are the ones that leave a mark on you and I can't even count how many people claim that this is in their top five movies of all time. What makes this one of the best 90s movies is the heartwarming friendships mixed with the horror of prison life. The Shawshank Redemption is old school Netflix that should not be missed.

Schindler’s List (1993)

Schindler’s List is one of those movies that should be played in classrooms nationwide. It's the harrowing story of a man who saved countless Jews during the holocaust. Schindler’s List is probably in the top five of best 90s movies ever made. Not surprisingly, it has one of the highest scores I have ever seen on Rotten Tomatoes (97%). This is how Spielberg proved to the world that he is a master at directing. There are many scenes throughout the movie which are hard to watch but it would seem to be an injustice to look away from the suffering witnessed at the hands of the Nazis. More than one of the classic movies on Netflix, Schindlers List is a spellbinding movie showcased by Spielberg with brutal realism. If I had to pick the top movie from this list of the best 90s movies, I'd have to choose Schindlers List. I've always been very interested in World War II and Schindlers List provides a whole new view of life on both sides of the line.

So there you have it, here are some of the best 90s movies we have today. What's even better, is that these are all 90s movies on Netflix streaming. No matter if you were born in the 80's or are just looking for the best 90s movies, the movies above will supply you with the best of the best from the era. If you weren't born in the 80's and you somehow have not seen one of these insanely popular 90s movies, I suggest you take the time to watch each and every one. You will not be disappointed.

But what about the movies that are actually based on true stories? Aren't they really the scariest movies? Usually when you have a list of the scariest movies on Amazon Prime, you might expect to see a big list of the best horror movies on Amazon Prime. Today I'd like to bring you movies that are not necessarily horror movies, but movies that are seriously scary.

I define scary movies as those type of movies that send chills up your spine and freak you out even after you have watched it. It's easy to find mindless horror movies that provide some entertainment, but it's no easy task to find movies that will seriously scare you.

So I hope I'm not disappointing anyone who came here looking for the best horrors on Amazon Prime. But if you are one such person, you're still in luck. I wrote a blog about the best horrors on Amazon Prime a little bit ago and here it is for you to pick some great horror movies from.

City of Ghosts

If you're looking for one of the scariest movies ever about ISIS, then you've come to the right place. City of Ghosts is the story of Syrian rebels in Raqqa, who have labeled themselves "Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently", secretly documenting the atrocities committed by ISIS in their hometown. This is a very good scary movie because it is horribly real. The whole documentary is filmed through real-life footage. As the film progresses the men of Raqqa must risk their lives to secretly videotape ISIS. I think ISIS is something that everyone in the world knows about by now and if you watch the news you can see that they are attacking just about everyone. Now I'm not one to ever promote letting terrorists scare you (because that's their whole plan) but it's simply the fact that a group of psychotics murdering innocent civilians is pretty scary. No matter if you consider a person a terrorist or not, if they are committing public executions on the townspeople, I'd say they are someone to be feared at least a little. I don't pretend to know much about the Syrian war but I have seen some of the effects of it in the news and it all seems very sad. Even though City of Ghosts is one of the best documentaries on Amazon Prime, it is also one of the scariest movies on there as well.

Room

Room is the story of a woman and her son trapped in a room and forced to live there against they will. I actually didn't know anything about Room before I watched it. Once you see the movie, you'll understand why I was fairly confused on what was going on for the first fifteen minutes. I have Room on this list of the scariest movies ever on Amazon Prime because it is frighteningly real. I used to always Google "scariest movie ever" and a lot of the time I would end up with information on movies based on real-life serial killers. I don't know about you, but the deeper I read into real serial killer stuff, the scarier it gets. Room is actually based on a true story of an evil man named Joseph Fritzl. I'd rather not share the details of this guy and what he did to his daughter, but suffice it to say, it's absolutely horrible. Room is one of those very real scary movies because it perfectly depicts the horror and desperation of a person stuck in this type of hell. Like I said at the start, the scariest movies aren't always the ones about ghouls and goblins. The scariest movies are the ones that you know actually took place in life and real people had to live through.

Green Room

Green Room is a great movie starring the late Anton Chekhov. It's the story of a small punk band desperate for gigs and deciding to play for a group of neo-nazis. Interestingly enough, the movie is based on an experience with nazi's in the director's youth. What makes Green Room one of the scariest movies ever on Amazon Prime is that sometimes we forget how sadistic neo-nazi gangs can be. I really did not expect the amount of violence that's present in Green Room. What's scary about the movie is that gangs like this actually exist. I remember reading a similar story of a neo-nazi gang that was known for random knife attacks on unsuspecting victims. The light went off in my head as soon as I watched Green Room. Not only was it a good scary movie in the sense that it reminded me that people like this actually exist in the world, but it also reminded me that messed up people like this are organized and can breed such a high level of hate amongst the impressionable youth. Is Green Room the scariest movies ever made? No. But you might be shocked at how violent nazis can be.

Shot Caller

It's easy to explain why Shot Caller is on the list for scary movies amazon prime. I'm a big fan of the TV series Locked Up, which is about the prison system, and Shot Caller fits right in with the horrors of prison. I don't care how tough you are, a prison is a scary place. I choose Shot Caller as one of the scariest movies on Amazon Prime because it's frighteningly real. I actually had a friend that I considered to be fairly normal in high school. We were fairly close but fell out of touch just out of high school. Fast forward a few years and I get word that he has been working his way up the ranks of the white supremacist's federal prison gang. This is a guy that grew up in a rich area of town with both of his parents in the picture. He wanted for nothing in the safest town imaginable and still ended up as a white supremacist gang member. The same thing happens to a regular guy in Shot Caller. As I keep saying, the scariest movies are the ones that you can actually relate too. As soon as I saw Shot Caller I instantly thought of my old friend. I still think this is one of the scariest movies on Amazon Prime and I just know someone who this happened to. From my friend's parents perspective, this must be the scariest movie ever.

So again, I hope you didn't come here looking for the scariest horrors on Amazon Prime. I wanted to take a stab at a new type of "scary" and relate it to you in a slightly different way. All of these movies have interesting plots and they are definitely some of the scariest movie ever to ever stream on Amazon Prime.

A good scary movie doesn't always have to be a horror movie. Sometimes the scariest movies are the ones you can actually relate to.

So the next time you think about Googling "scary movies amazon prime", say yourself some time and just check back on this post for all my updates.

The Scariest Movies on Netflix Right Now

Everyone likes a good scary movie! If you're looking for the scariest movies on Netflix right now, here are 4 movies that will send chills up your spine.

jamilammar

It's not always easy coming up with a list of the scariest movies on Netflix. The problem is, there are many horror movies on Netflix but there are very few scary horror movies on Netflix.

When you think of horror, you might think of the hack and slash type of movie that has blood splattering scenes at every turn. Although I do enjoy those type of horror movies, they are rarely the scary ones. It's not enough to just Google "scary movies Netflix" anymore because you will just be shown a huge list of boring, unoriginal, horror flicks.

The scariest movies on Netflix are the ones that leave a mark on you. They are the movies that keep you tense throughout the film and even when you head to bed. Some of these movies may make you check over your shoulder before you turn off the lights. Some of these might just give you some nightmares. These movies could be considered the best horror films on Netflix but above all, they are the scariest movies on Netflix.

Oculus

Oculus is the story of a girl suspecting an antique mirror had something to do with her parent's death when she was a child. What makes Oculus one of the scariest movies on Netflix is something that can only be explained as the genius of Stephen King. Stephen King has a way of creeping into those uncomfortable places in your mind and then burrowing in deep. I always talk about how Stephen King has produced some of the best horror movies of all time from his books and Oculus is no exception. I wasn't really sure about Oculus when I saw the trailer and just thought it was going to be another teen beat cheesy horror flick. Don't make the same mistake I did. I know you feel like you've seen all the possible variations of a haunted house story there is but trust me, Oculus takes that genre and makes it more terrifying than it's ever been. When creating a horror movies list it's easy to just start with the bloodiest and most gore-filled movies out there because most of the time, that's what people like to watch. Creating a horror movies list based on movies that are actually pretty terrifying is a whole other ball game. Oculus is one of the scariest movies on Netflix because it draws you in with its unique approach to a genre in need of some originality. For example, who of us hasn't seen the "monster in the mirror" type of Hollywood trick? Everyone has seen that age-old trick and most of us are tired of it already. Would you believe me if I told you that Oculus actually pulls off that age-old trick and makes it very creepy? This movie is seriously chilling and easily makes the list of some of the best Netflix scary movies.

Backcountry

Next up on this list of the scariest movies on Netflix we have Backcountry. Backcountry is another great example of how a familiar plot can be redone in a fun and terrifying way. Backcountry is the story of hikers venturing out into the Canadian wilderness and quickly becoming lost. Alone and afraid they become prey to the wildlife. This movie instantly made my horror movies list when I saw it. If there's one thing I'm scared of in life it's bear's in the wild. What separates Backcountry from the rest of the "bear attack" movies you've seen in the past is that the fear is at an all-time high. This is what I look for in the best Netflix scary movies. I try to find movies that can instill fear in the viewer by comparing it to their real life. I'll tell you what, I don't plan on going camping in the wilderness of Canada anytime soon! This movie really got under my skin. I think it's one of the Netflix top scary movies because it has an extremely brutal and gory scene in it. Usually, gratuitous gore doesn't really help a movie be all that scary, but the gore in Backcountry seems horrifyingly real. Everyone knows the power of a bear but you might just squirm in your seat watching a particular scene in this movie. I still can't get the image out of my head. Like I mentioned at the start, the best horror films on Netflix are the ones that leave a mark on you and Backcountry definitely did.

The Babadook

It's really no surprise to see The Babadook on a list of the scariest movies on Netflix. If you haven't seen this one yet, you need to watch it tonight. The Babadook is the story of a troubled widow who comes to realize that her son's story of a terrible presence in their home may just be real. I think that The Babadook should be considered for the list of the best horror movies of all time. Very few movies come with the inventive style of The Babadook and it deserves to be high on the list of scary movies. It's possible that because this is an Australian movie on Netflix it's giving all of us in America a tiny bit of culture shock, which adds to the mystique of the film, but I think it's much more than that. I think the main reason The Babadook is one of the best horror films on Netflix is because of the psychological torment of the mother. You feel possessed watching this movie as the evil creeps up from out of the darkness. The Babadook really brought me back to my childhood days and being scared of the Boogeyman. I really want to look into the folklore of this movie because I'm sure it's just as terrifying. If you're spending hours Googling for "Netflix scary movies", then stop right now and turn on The Babadook.

It Follows

I think It Follows is one of the most original horror movies I have ever seen. It might just be my favorite of this list of the scariest movies on Netflix. It Follows is the story of a girl who comes to realize that a fatal curse is following her after a recent sexual encounter. I feel like It Follows should be shown in every high school these days. It serves as a perfect example of the dangers of unprotected sex. What's more than that, is that it's one of the creepiest movies I've ever seen. What's most impressive about It Follows is how unnerving the movie is. You don't have time to leave your seat in this one. There is always impending doom at every turn. It Follows has very minimal special effects and instead opts to focus on the nightmarish atmosphere of the movie. I put myself in the position of the people in It Follows and I seriously couldn't come up with a good solution of how to save myself. Put yourself in the same position and I don't think you will find an answer either. I really hope It Follows is a sign of things to come in the next evolution of horror movies. If this isn't one of the scariest movies on Netflix about sex, I don't know what is.

So there you go. These are absolutey the scariest movies on Netflix right now. I think deep down everyone likes to see the blood splattered across the screen, don't they?? Ok, maybe it's just me. We'll say I just created this list of the bloodiest movies on Netflix for my own enjoyment, but if you're a gorehound like me, I promise you won't be disappointed with any of the choices below.

What I plan to recommend are the best gory horror movies on Netflix and the best gory horror comedies on Netflix that are actually worth watching. Sure, there are a ton of movies out there that have exploding heads and bloody entrails being ripped out of a person's body, but that doesn't necessarily qualify them to be movies worth watching. One two-second moment of gory goodness is never worth wasting two hours of your life. I plan on bringing you the gory movies that have a ton of blood and are great movies to watch. Some of the Netflix movies below are funnier than others and some are scarier than others. Whatever your preference may be, I'm sure you'll find your favorite type of gory movie on this list of gory horror movies on Netflix.

Raw

Raw is the story of a girl who uncovers a dark family secret while attending veterinary school. I was really surprised at how dark Raw got. I had heard that it was a "disturbing" movie, but I didn't really believe the hype. It wasn't until I sat through this French film that I began to understand how this was one of the best gory movies on Netflix. If you didn't already know, the best way to find gory movies is to search for the reviews on a movie you suspect might be gory. If you see words like "disturbing" or "excessively violent" then you have a good chance of finding a great gory movie. That is how I found Raw. Raw is a coming of age tale mixed with an extremely violent practice that practically everyone has heard of. I don't want to give it away but it's one of the best gory horror movies because there is a lot of gruesome scenes. What makes Raw not just one of the gory movies but also one of the great movies to watch on Netflix is that it's funny, smart, and it explores the horror genre in a new, almost sensitive, way. You find yourself trying to relate to the girl as she tries to find her place in life. Raw is probably one of the first gory movies on Netflix that I actually felt bad for the person committing all the horrible acts of gore.

Tucker And Dale Vs. Evil

Tucker And Dale Vs. Evil is a classic horror comedy on Netflix that should be seen whether you enjoy gory movies or not. In the case that you do enjoy gory movies, Tucker And Dale Vs. Evil is probably the best combination of horror and comedy that you will ever see. Tucker And Dale Vs. Evil is the story of two fishing buddies who go out to their cabin and get mistaken for murderous hillbillies by a bunch of camping teenagers. Gory horror movies don't get much better than this if you're looking for laughs. The second the blood starts flowing you know you're in for a good gory movie with this one. I suppose there is a small life lesson to learn in this movie. You should never judge a man by the fact that he's skinning a squirrel. I'm sure Tucker and Dale would appreciate that sentiment. The director of the movie actually nailed it by creating a movie about hillbillies not actually being psycho killers. It seems like half of the gory movies in the past involved sick, twisted, hillbillies. I wish most gory horror movies were as fun and original as Tucker And Dale Vs. Evil. So if you're looking to stack up the body count with gory movies on Netflix, this should be your number one choice.

The Eyes of My Mother

There's a special place in my heart for The Eyes of My Mother. When it first came out, the reviews were absolutely horrible. I remember reading how "shocked" people were about the "brutal violence" and "needless gore". No one seemed to give this movie a shot. By the time The Eyes of My Mother came along I was an expert at finding gory movies on Netflix so I didn't hesitate to give it a try. This movie is seriously in a category of its own. It's artistic, it's dark, it's twisted, it's disturbing, it's gory, and it's great! I remember just being fascinated after the first five minutes of the movie. Some of the characters just seemed so evil. The Eyes of My Mother is definitely one of my favorite gory horror movies. I remember when I watched it and added it to my weekly newsletter. The next week I lost five to six subscribers who clearly couldn't handle how sick and twisted it was. Oh well, to each their own, but I still think this is one of the best gory movies on Netflix and I will continue to promote it. I actually think this movie had an interesting message as well. Behind the gruesomeness, it's clear that it showcases the damage that can be done to impressionable minds at an early age. Above all, it's one of the more fascinating gory movies I think I've ever seen.

The Wailing

The Wailing is a very dark and twisted Korean movie. I find that Korean movies are actually some of the best gory horror movies out there. What's so striking about The Wailing is all the horrible scenes of death. The Wailing is the story of police investigating a mysterious sickness in a small remote village thought to be brought on by an outsider. I felt like The Wailing really pushed the limits of gory horror movies. It did it in a way that was not excessive but very effective. Out of all the movies on this list, it gave me the most chills seeing all the murder and death surrounding the illness. Death by gun is one thing, but death by knife is always a much darker gory movie. Even though it's one of the best gory horror movies on Netflix it's an extremely strange film. I don't pretend to understand everything that is going on with the Korean shamanism in this gory flick, but it definitely added to the mystique of the movie. Another great aspect of The Wailing is that everything seems like an intangible evil. You never really know what's going on and the movie never really waits for you to catch up. The Wailing is one of the good gory horror movies that shouldn't be missed.

I spend hours searching for the best gory movies on Netflix and I usually come up empty. These gore films above are the best of the best that Netflix has to offer right now.

They don't always have to be scary gory movies. Some of the best gory movies are the funny ones like Tucker And Dale Vs. Evil. Make sure to give at least one of these a shot and you won't be disappointed. It happens to me about three or four times a week. The problem is, as soon as I'm done with my day and I'm ready to watch some movies, it's nearly impossible to find a good movie on Netflix. What's even harder these days than finding a plain old good movie on Netflix is finding Netflix new movies worth watching.

The price you pay for finding Netflix new movies worth watching is time. These days it seems to take a pretty large chunk of your personal time to sift through all the garbage and come up with something worth watching. Today I'd like to spare you some time and give you a list of the best Netflix new movies we have to watch on streaming Netflix. All of these choices are well worth watching and you don't need to spend a minute searching for them. My criteria for finding good Netflix new movies will be that they were released for the first time on Netflix in the last few months or the movie was at least created in 2017.

The Oath

The Oath is the story of a father who will go to any lengths to protect his daughter. I was really glad to find The Oath on streaming Netflix. I was close to giving up on the thought of finding new movies on Netflix for the night when I randomly came across this little gem. Taking place in Iceland, The Oath shows you a side of the world that is rarely seen in most films. New movies on Netflix are rarely original like The Oath. I say that because it's not only that the story is original, but the whole landscape and cinematography is something you rarely see. I don't know about you, but I haven't seen a lot of good movies out of Iceland lately. In fact, I don't know if I've seen any good movies from Iceland. The Oath made this list of the best new movies on Netflix because it shows you a part of the world that is rarely seen. Also, it's very hard to be original when it comes to thrillers on Netflix and The Oath manages to put the time in to come up with something we haven't seen lately. I hope there are more Netflix new releases like this in 2018.

1922

1922 is a great movie about a man who will do anything to keep his son on his farm and his farm under his control. It was funny because the first time I started to watch 1922 I turned it off after the first ten minutes. For whatever reason, I didn't think it was going to be one of the good Netflix new releases. A few days later I came across it again because it was literally titled "Netflix new releases" and I decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did. What I didn't realize at first was that this was a Netflix new release based on the Stephen King novel 1922. 1922 really stays true to the roots of the slow rotting dread that only Stephen King is capable of. This is one of my favorites of the recent Netflix new releases from Netflix Originals. There are good actors at every turn in 1922 and I was surprised at how well Thomas Jane pulled off the gritty farmer type. In a strange way, this movie reminded me of Tales From the Crypt. You remember that show? It's a strange comparison because they aren't the same time of movies, maybe it's just the feeling of the creepy unearthly revenge that starts to build in the movie. If you don't mind a little bit of blood and gore, then this is a great pick for Netflix new movies.

Madre

A woman struggling to take care of her autistic child hires a nanny to help her with her motherly duties and chores.
Madre is an interesting Netflix new release added a few months ago. When I say Netflix new release, I mean that it was added to Netflix for the first time recently and that it was a movie created in 2017. As a thriller and mystery movie, Madre was pretty fun to watch. Sure, it's a lower budget movie, but it still has more creativity to it than most of the Netflix new releases out there. Madre really got killed by the critics, but I thought it was a fun little mystery movie worth waiting to see what happened. Sure, there's not Oscar-worthy performances, but it's still better than most Netflix new movies out there. I think there are certain parts in Madre that will give everyone the creeps at times. No one likes getting taken advantage of and there are some pretty sinister intentions going on. Madre even plays on the fears we all had as little kids. I remember being scared of magical spells and voodoo when I was little. Above all, Madre was educational for me not knowing about the severity of some autistic children. That alone made me think it was definitely worth being on this list of the best new movies on Netflix.

Gerald's Game

Like 1922, Gerald's Game is yet another Netflix new release based on a Stephen King novel. Gerald's Game is the story of a woman stuck handcuffed to a bed after a playful sex game goes wrong. I might have to say that this is one of the Netflix top movies for Netflix new releases. This is my favorite movie on the list for sure. I don't care what anyone says, Stephen King still manages to instill fear in the most creative ways. Carla Gugino gives a commanding performance and is the reason this is one of the best new movies on Netflix. To be honest, there are very few films that create an unsettling reaction from me and Gerald's Game is one of them. There is one scene, in particular, that is extremely gruesome and I think viewers will be a little bit shocked to witness it. Few Netflix new releases can stand up to this masterstroke by director Mike Flanagan. My favorite aspect of Gerald's Game is the unpredictability of the story. I actually thought there wasn't going to be much stuff going on, already knowing the premise of the story, but the director really manages to turn a thin plot into a very interesting one. Like I said, this is definitely one of my favorite Netflix new releases.

If you're searching for the best new movies on Netflix every night then you're not alone. If you're tired of wasting countless hours searching for good Netflix new releases then look no further than the four movies above. I am crossing my fingers that Netflix 2018 will be a great year for Netflix new releases but I'm still not holding my breath.

I would have to say that over all of the many genres, dark comedy movies might just be my favorite. I've always called this genre "dark comedy movies" but apparently some people call them "black comedy movies" too so I will try to use the two terms interchangeably.

Dark comedies are so fun because you get to watch some of the most horrible things under the funniest circumstances. Some of the movies below might not have the biggest budgets but the dark comedy is spot on.

It takes a special type of person to really enjoy dark comedies so I'm glad you're here. You must be one of the many people that can find comedy in anything and that's great. These black comedy films will play on every serious aspect of serious movies and throw a bucket of blood in your face while you're watching it. I know that black comedy movies aren't for everyone, but for those of you who enjoy bloody thrills and twisted tales of murder, here is a list of the 10 best dark comedies Netflix has to offer right now.

Bad Santa

We'll start off this list with a classic dark comedy. Bad Santa is the story of an alcoholic thief joining up with his partner for a seasonal run of crime. Billy Bob Thorton really plays a perfect POS in this movie. He is probably the vilest, degenerate, Santa Claus you will ever see. At the same time, he's probably the funniest Santa Claus you will ever see. I actually saw this movie for the first time in the movie theatre a long time ago. I remember hearing the laughs from some people in the crowd and the cringing of others. I feel like I remember seeing an elderly couple get up and leave even. That should serve to show you that this is not a kids movie. Bad Santa is a black comedy of the highest order.

Cheap Thrills

Cheap Thrills is a great movie starring Pay Healy as a family man down on his luck, willing to do anything to make some money to support his family. If you're a fan of bloody dark comedy films then Cheap Thrills is right up your alley. These guys are so pathetically desperate for cash they're willing to do pretty much anything. Throughout the movie, every bet seems to escalate and things getter darker and darker. My favorite dark comedy movies are usually the ones that make you cringe and Cheap Thrills will absolutely have that effect on you. If you're in the mood for some twisted dares and some gruesome black comedy, then Cheap Thrills is the one for you.

Turbo Kid

Turbo Kid hit the scene in typical 80's B movie fashion. It's the story of a quirky kid surviving in a post-apocalyptic world. What makes Turbo Kid one of the best black comedy movies is all the wonderful B-rate gore.
Turbo Kid takes pride in its brutally bloody effects and you'll soon find yourself cheering the hero on. Think of a low-grade Mad Max movie with a lot more blood and ridiculous one-liners. The whole movie almost looks like you made the set yourself when you were a kid playing in the backyard. Everything about Turbo Kid screams dark comedy and if you feel like taking a trip back in time for some awesome 80's blood splattering fun, Turbo Kid is a great choice for one of the best dark comedies on Netflix.

The Mule

The Mule is one of the less known black comedy movies on Netflix. I always mention this movie to people who love dark comedy movies and they always say they've never heard of it. The Mule is the story of a man who becomes involved with drug smugglers and has to deal with the horrible consequences. From what I understand, The Mule is actually based on a true story so that makes this dark comedy even funnier in my book. I can't imagine having to go through something like this. The best part about The Mule is that it's a smart, cunning, movie that will keep you entertained for under two hours. Even though there's a lot of dark comedy in this movie, I found that there was a lot more compassion than meets the eye. There is one scene in particular that is extremely disgusting. Even a fan of black comedy movies like me had to look away for a little bit.

I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore

I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore is the story of a woman fed up with life after becoming the victim of a home robbery. There's a lot to like about I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore and not just because it's one of the best dark comedies of the year. Macon Blair is really making a name for himself with these movies. He seems to capture the essence of very dark movies. I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore just happens to have a lot of comedy in it too and that's why you see it on this list of dark comedy movies. There was a lot of violence that I just didn't expect from this movie. It got a lot of awards at Sundance and it's not too hard to see why. This is probably the grittiest dark comedy I've seen in awhile.

The Voices

Update: Unfortunately, The Voices has been moved to DVD rental only.

The Voices is the best dark comedy I've ever seen Ryan Reynolds do. I know he's in a lot of movies that people consider to be dark comedy movies but none of them are really that great. The Voices is the story of a mentally disturbed man taking orders from his dog and cat. The Voices is a very dark comedy when you really start thinking about it. You feel like this is exactly how real serial killers feel when they are dealing with their inner demons. Out of all the movies on this list, I would say that this is the most realistic black comedy. It's a pretty funny movie but thinking about it in reality kind of sends chills up your spine.

Tucker and Dale vs Evil

I'll just go ahead and say that Tucker and Dale vs Evil is the best dark comedy there is. I've spoken at lengths about how much I love this movie and how it should probably be on everyone's top 5 dark comedy movies of all time. Tucker and Dale vs Evil is the story of two buddies going on a fishing trip and getting mistaken for deranged hillbilly psychos. It doesn't take long for the body count to stack up and the blood to splatter across everyone's faces. If you love black comedy movies with lots of blood, then you need to watch Tucker and Dale vs Evil tonight.

Housebound

Housebound is a great movie coming out of New Zealand about a girl being forced to live at her parents home on house arrest. Housebound is definitely one of the dark comedy movies but it's also in the category of horror, thriller, and mystery. For the most part, Housebound doesn't take itself too seriously but still manages to pull off some pretty convincing horror aspects. Dark comedy movies rarely have this much originality. Everyone puts on a good performance in Housebound and I guarantee you haven't seen a black comedy like this before. Housebound is definitely one of my favorite movies from New Zealand.

DeathGasm

Speaking of New Zealand, DeathGasm is another one of my favorite movies coming from the country. DeathGasm is the story of young rockers starting a band and accidentally summoning an evil spirit. If you like dark comedy movies, you're going to like DeathGasm. It's really as simple as that. DeathGasm is a gorefest of the highest degree. And how about that name? You know it's going to be good!

Take Me

Take Me is the story of a man who runs a kidnap for hire business and gets involved with the wrong client. This is another great movie directed by and starring Pat Healy. I have a feeling Pat Healy's favorite genre of movies is dark comedy movies. Take Me doesn't have any big budget but it has a fresh take on the black comedy genre. The best parts of the movie are clearly watching Pat Healy and Taylor Schilling go at it scene after scene. I was genuinely confused on what was going on for awhile in Take Me. It was a nice surprise to find Take Me on Netflix and I think you'll really like this black comedy.

These are the 10 best dark comedies we have to watch on Netflix right now. I always tell my readers that they need to make sure to watch these movies on Netflix soon because they could be gone off Netflix streaming tomorrow. Whether you call them dark comedy movies or black comedy movies they are some of the best movies ever made. I love the mixture of ridiculous blood and gore and laughs. If you do too, you will love watching each and every one of these dark comedy choices.

And just like every other movie site, the list of sci fi movies on Amazon Prime is pretty diverse. These movies range from everything you can imagine to everything you can't imagine. That's the great thing about science fiction though. It doesn't really require much thinking at all. Unfortunately, the best sci fi movies on Amazon Prime are here one day and gone the next so you should take advantage of these titles while you can.

The whole point of jamilslist.com is to bring you the movies that you probably haven't seen yet. I could just recommend the most popular sci fi movies out there but that wouldn't be very helpful to you. Below is a list of some of the best science fiction movies on Amazon Prime that you probably haven't seen yet. Each one of these movies fit into a couple of different categories and science fiction is definitely their main one.

Swiss Army Man

Swiss Army Man is the story of a boy trapped on an island. One day an object floats ashore that might just save his life. I would say that Swiss Army Man delves so deep into science fiction I don't know how anyone could think this up. I suppose the best science fiction movies created should be pretty out there in terms of creativity but Swiss Army Man takes it to a whole new level. It's probably the first dark comedy that made me a little queasy watching it! And strangely, I mean that in a good way. Swiss Army Man is sickening original and Daniel Radcliffe has proven that he has shed the Harry Potter roles and turned into a serious actor. Although, nothing about this movie is very serious. I don't think I've ever used this word before, but Swiss Army Man is a sort of whimsical story of loneliness. I just couldn't leave it off of this list of sci fi films because it is just insanely unpredictable and that goes a long way. Another reason I thought this was one of the best science fiction movies on Amazon Prime was that the whole story is told in such a way that you feel like you've dreamed part of it before. Everything is so sporadic and random just like dreams can be sometimes. Afterall, what could be more imaginative than a dream? I think you'll have a good time with Swiss Army Man.

Predestination

Predestination is the story of a futuristic cop going back in time to search for a terrorist that has eluded him his whole career. You are in for one serious mind bending thriller in Predestination. I feel like Ethan Hawke doesn't really get the love he deserves. He seems to be quietly making great films that no one is really talking about. For example, this movie definitely will not make this list of sci fi films, but Sinister was a great horror movie starring Ethan Hawke that practically no one saw. If you're looking for a complex movie, this is definitely one of the best science fiction movies out there. Just when I thought I was coming to grips with the story, I felt like I got kicked down another rabbit hole. I've said it before, but when you start messing with time travel, it's so easy to get lost in the movie. Much like Christopher Nolan movies, Predestination will push your mind to the limit if you really try to keep up. Out of all the movies on this list of sci fi films Predestination is at the top and is probably the best sci fi movie on Amazon Prime.

Afflicted

Afflicted is the story of two college buddies who take a trip to Europe. During the trip, one of them contracts a mysterious illness. Although I think a lot of people want to just put Afflicted in the horror category, it definitely deserves to be on this list of sci fi films. Some of the best science fiction movies I've seen lately have the lowest budget and the most creativity. I haven't always been the biggest fan of found footage movies in the past, but Afflicted manages to breathe life into this overdone genre. Like Predestination, Afflicted is another movie that very few people have seen. The directors really did so much with so little in this movie. One of the best aspects of Afflicted is that once you get pulled in you might think you know where the story is going but I guarantee you don't. I remember when it came out, Afflicted was one of the best new sci fi movies of 2014. Even now it's way better than most of the best recent sci fi movies out today. Take a chance on it tonight.

10 Cloverfield Lane

After a bad car accident, a woman wakes up to find herself underground in a bunker with two men as her only company. This description of 10 Cloverfield Lane sounds very sinister but I promise there is more to the story than that. This is one of the best science fiction movies on Amazon Prime because the tension is palpable throughout. John Goodman does such a good job of acting that even you feel tense whenever his character is on the screen. The whole story doesn't take place in more than a few places yet you still manage to be entertained the whole time. This is one of the best science fiction movies with a subcategory of mystery. I really couldn't tell what was going on the whole time and I don't think you will be able to either. At first, I thought it was going to be a plain old sci fi movie, then I thought it was going to be a horror, then I thought it was going to be a survival movie. You just don't really know with 10 Cloverfield Lane and that's what makes it one of the best new sci fi movies on Amazon Prime.

This list of sci fi films is compiled of the best science fiction movies Amazon Prime has to offer. I was going to add two more to this list, but Amazon Prime randomly took them off of Amazon Prime streaming at the last second. That's how quick some of these movies get removed. So if you're hoping to watch some of the best recent sci fi movies on Amazon Prime tonight you better do it quick!

In the past, it seemed like you couldn't find any new sci fi movies that didn't involve space or aliens. We've come a long way since then and people have produced sci fi movies that span every category of movie we have today. Although there have been plenty of duds over the last few years, I think sci fi movies are slowing making a comeback. The sci fi genre has even established itself as creating Oscar-worthy movies and that's a great sign for the future. I've spent a lot of time looking for sci fi movies 2017 and I haven't found that many worth watching, so I'm hoping 2018 is a better year. As always, you can find all the best movies on Netflix and Amazon Prime here.

The Best Serial Killer Movies on Netflix Right Now

A lot of people are interested in serial killer movies and I'm one of them. I used to spend hours in the library reading about horrible real-life serial killers. I know that's a little morbid but I know I'm not the only one that finds this stuff interesting. The real-life books are great, but when it comes to movies, it's actually pretty hard to find serial killer movies that aren't too cheesy. On Netflix, it seems like serial killer movies are a dime a dozen and very few will ever send chills up your spine. But today I want to discuss some of the best serial killer movies we have to watch on Netflix and I'll try my best to explain why they are worth the watch. I've weeded through all the pointless hack and slash serial killer movies out there and created a quick list of the best serial killer movies on Netflix right now.

The Voices

Update: Unfortunately, The Voices has been moved to DVD rental only.

A mentally unstable factory worker begins to hear voices coming from his dog and cat. The Voices is actually probably one of the most realistic serial killer movies I've seen in a long time. I am really not a fan of Ryan Reynolds at all but he actually surprised me in this one. What makes The Voices so eerie is that you put yourself in the mind of a serial killer. In a way, you start to feel empathy for someone that has such crazy mental issues. I mean you can never take anything Ryan Reynolds is in too seriously, but this still manages to be a pretty dark serial killer movie. I guess you would put this in the category of a comedy horror but I don't know, I felt like it did a much better job of the serial killer portrayal as a horror comedy than most serious serial killer movies do. Give it a shot.

I Am Not a Serial Killer

When I first saw the name of I Am Not a Serial Killer, I just thought it was going to be another cheesy "serial thriller" that didn't really amount to anything. I couldn't have been more wrong. I Am Not a Serial Killer is the story of a boy living in a small town investigating a recent strain of murders while managing his own tendencies. There are some bad reviews about I Am Not a Serial Killer and I have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. This is one of the most original serial killer movies I have seen in a long time. It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of horrors, but I Am Not a Serial Killer manages to breathe life into a genre that is insanely crowded with, well, crap. Although you'll find I Am Not a Serial Killer under Netflix horror, it really spans all kinds of genres. You have aspects of mystery, thriller, horror, and comedy all rolled into one. I can tell you right now that you have never seen a movie like this before.

Zodiac

So Zodiac is #1 on this list of serial killer movies. Zodiac is the true story of the Zodiac killer that stalked San Francisco in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Maybe it's because it's based on a true story but Zodiac will absolutely creep you out. I remember reading the true story of the Zodiac Killer and it was pretty horrifying. I'll never forget seeing the drawing of him in his outfit given to investigators by surviving witnesses. I usually wouldn't add a movie with such big name actors in it but I just couldn't resist with Zodiac. You find yourself being pulled in and obsessed just like the rest of the cast is in finding the serial killer's true identity. I'd have to say that out of all the serial killer movies based on a real serial killer, Zodiac takes the cake in the authenticity and mood of the movie. You almost feel on edge the whole time as the story gets stranger and stranger. If you're searching for "serial killer Netflix" this is the movie you need to watch.

The Eyes of My Mother

The Eyes of My Mother was great! It get's so much hate but please don't let that stop you from watching this movie. It only takes about ten minutes in for you to realize what you are in for with The Eyes of My Mother. A thing to note is that I'm not usually a fan of black and white movies. For most of them, I feel like it never really adds to the experience when you take away the color. Strangely enough, I thought it worked with The Eyes of My Mother. It puts the whole movie into a dreamlike state for the viewer. Well, it's more like a nightmare. This is one of the best serial killer movies on Netflix if you're looking for some pretty intense, and gruesome, scenes. This wasn't based on a true story, but I kind of got the sense that they stole little bits from real life serial killer stories here and there. The Eyes of My Mother is a pretty chilling and disturbing movie so be warned. After Zodiac, it's my next favorite of the serial killer movies on Netflix.

Hush

I wasn't sure if Hush should actually be on a list of serial killer movies on Netflix but in the end, I decided it belonged to be here. Hush is the story of a deaf girl living alone in the woods and being terrorized by a madman. Hush doesn't completely fit as one of the serial killer movies, but there's enough terror in it to make it qualified to be here. Good serial killer movies are so hard to come by because most of them are hardly ever original. Hush manages to once again take a played out genre and add a very interesting twist to it. The acting is great and Mike Flanagan continues to use his masterstroke in creating horrors. Another good movie by Mike Flanagan to watch on Netflix is Oculus. The best part about Hush is that it is constantly fast-paced. I can't imagine you will ever get bored watching this movie. Yeah, it's the classic cat and mouse horror flick, but there's a lot to be said about how efficient and sharply made this horror thriller is. Hush is definitely one of the best serial killer movies on Netflix.

As far as serial killer movies go, these are the best movies on Netflix. If you're looking for a good scare, or just want to learn some real facts about serial killers, these movies are a great place to start. If you have the time, start at the top and work your way down over the course of a few nights. You might find that you like serial killer movies just as much as I do. As always, if you're looking for the best movies on Netflix in every category, you can find them all here!

The Best Action Movies on Netflix Right now

Are you looking for the best Netflix action movies? I guess people seem to care more about the Netflix series these days and the big wigs at Netflix are noticing. That's a shame though because there are still some great action movies on Netflix streaming movies. But here at jamilslist we will continue to battle against the changing tides to bring you the best Netflix action movies we can find.
If a Netflix queue is like a Netflix what to watch, then you need to add these to your queue. So many sites out there will claim to bring you the best Netflix action movies but all they do is list nearly every one of the Netflix action movies whether they are good or not. There are only a handful of movies on this list of the best action movies on Netflix right now because you may not have already seen them before and they are well worth the watch.

Kidnapping Mr. Heineken

Kidnapping Mr. Heineken is a very interesting true story about the kidnapping of the heir to the Heineken empire. I always like finding movies on Netflix streaming that are based on true stories. It's because I always want to Google the story after the movie to check the facts. Kidnapping Mr. Heineken is a small-time thriller that manages to stay interesting the whole time. The fascinating facts come at the end of the movie when you get to read more about the facts of the story. All and all, Kidnapping Mr. Heineken was an interesting look into a story that you have probably never heard of. Give it a shot tonight.

13 Assassins

I keep shoving 13 Assassins down everyone's throat because it is one of the best Netflix action movies. When it comes to bloody vengeance, no movie can hold a candle to 13 Assassins. It's the story of a group of samurai who set out to seek revenge against a feudal lord. Everything about 13 Assassins is executed perfectly and I really don't have a single bad thing to say about this movie. Netflix streaming movies rarely have this level of excitement and intrigue. 13 Assassins is something you not only watch but you get to experience filmmaking of the highest order. Normally I take some time to look over what other people thought about a film before I instantly add it to my streaming movies list, but there was no need for 13 Assassins. I don't care what anyone else says, this is the best Netflix action movie.

The Punisher

The Punisher is the story of Frank Castle taking revenge of the people who murdered his family. The Punisher is one of the best action movies on Netflix right now because it has a great cast of actors and a ton of senseless violence. Well, I guess it isn't exactly senseless because Frank Castle does deserve his revenge. We'll just say it has enough bloody violence to give the comic book a good name. You should take note that the comic book had a lot of distinct villains and the movie stayed true in that aspect. If you're willing to watch a movie that has some fun, albeit ridiculous, entertainment, then The Punisher is a good pick tonight. I haven't had a chance to watch the new Netflix Original series yet, but I hope it's good too.

Night Watch

Night Watch is the story of the neverending battle between the light and the dark in modern day Moscow. What Night Watch brings to the table is an unmistakable originality which is often lacking in Netflix action movies. Most Netflix action movies revolve around the same boring plot with nothing more than a hero and a villain. I guarantee you that you have never seen a movie like Night Watch. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this movie. It's funny because I have actually seen a lot of Russian movies and they normally aren't very good. I think Night Watch was the first of it's kind to come out of Russia considering all of the cinematic awards it received and for that reason, I think it's a perfect choice for you tonight.

Day Watch

Like Night Watch, Day Watch continues with the story of the light versus the dark. If you enjoyed Night Watch, then Day Watch will be right up your alley. With more head-spinning cinematography you get to delve deep into the mind of the director. Both Day Watch and Night Watch had a way of flirting with the horror genre while owning the pure fantasy realm. If you've watched either movie I'm sure you've seen how nonsensical and ridiculous they are and I mean that in the best way possible. Netflix streaming movies should strive to be more like these two movies.

The Way Back

The Way Back is a great choice for Netflix streaming tonight. The Way Back is the story of how a few men come together to escape a remote Siberian prison camp. I've mentioned it before but I'm not much of a fan of Colin Farrell. It wasn't until I saw The Way Back that I realized that he could actually act! The Way Back is a pretty remarkable story based on true events. I definitely have an affinity for Netflix action movies based on true stories. What's most striking about this movie is all the different landscapes and terrain the men must travel through. All of them are both beautiful and treacherous. The Way Back also has a much more star-studded cast than most Netflix streaming movies. You won't be disappointed watching this on Netflix streaming.

Turbo Kid

Turbo Kid is the story of a boy surviving in a post-apocalyptic era. Turbo Kid is pretty much the definition of a quirky movie on Netflix streaming. There's a ton of stuff to like about this movie including blood, gore, and awesome one-liners. If you like to only watch serious movies, then you are not going to want to watch Turbo Kid. If you like a good laugh, don't take yourself too seriously and are a fan of a lot of b-rate blood and gore, then you'll probably think Turbo Kid is one of the best Netflix action movies. Turbo Kid also has its own special type of charm and if you're a fan of retro throwbacks based on the 80's, this is a winner for you.

Hot Fuzz

Hot Fuzz is the story of a hotshot cop being sent on assignment to a small remote village. I've talked about Hot Fuzz for years. I think people have probably gotten the picture that I think it's one of the best Netflix action movies. It's definitely one of my favorite on Netflix movies streaming. I don't want to bore you with the 20th review I've made about this movie but just know that it's one of the best movies to watch on Netflix, and this list of the best action movies on Netflix right now.

The best Netflix action movies allow you to sit back, turn your brain off, and enjoy the show. The options above are some of the best Netflix streaming movies you can find today.
